Here how the funds get used.
- Emergency Financial Assistance
Veterans facing financial hardship can receive help with rent, utilities, groceries, and medical costs. These funds are often a lifeline during times of crisis. - Support for Long-Term Care and Housing
Poppy funds help subsidize care in veterans’ homes and long-term care facilities. They also support renovations and accessibility upgrades to ensure veterans can live safely and comfortably. - Mental Health and Wellness Programs
Many veterans struggle with PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Poppy funds support counselling services, peer support groups, and partnerships with mental health organizations to ensure veterans receive the care they need. - Career Transition and Employment Support
For veterans re-entering civilian life, poppy funds help provide job training, resume workshops, and career counselling. These programs empower veterans to build new futures after service. - Scholarships and Bursaries
The children and grandchildren of veterans can apply for educational support through Legion bursaries. These scholarships honour the legacy of service by investing in the next generation. - Community Outreach and Veteran Engagement
Local Legion branches use poppy funds to host veteran appreciation events, provide transportation to medical appointments, and run outreach programs to connect isolated veterans with community resources. - Support for Cadet and Youth Programs
Poppy funds also help support youth programs like the Royal Canadian Army, Sea, and Air Cadets—instilling leadership, discipline, and civic responsibility in young Canadians. - Remembrance Initiatives
Funds are used to maintain cenotaphs and memorials ensuring that the legacy of our fallen heroes is preserved with dignity and respect.
